Shannon Ross is a creative director, visionary & culture curator who is also 1 part of Shaken Creative with her partner Kenia Perez. Together they “believe in merging real stories, dope aesthetics, and diverse perspectives to create with purpose”. Having garnered her start in the industry with 4A’s Multicultural Advertising Intern Program (MAIP), Shannon Ross has been turning the industry world on its head ever since. In 2018 she was featured as a rising star in Adweek’s coveted Creative 100, Campaign Live, and The Drum. Shortly after, Shannon & her partner joined Spotify’s brand and creative team, creating more than 30 bespoke brand and music marketing campaigns that span across experiential, social, digital, and OOH. Their work continuously exceeds marketing benchmarks on global album launches such as Gunna’s WUNNA, Bad Bunny’s YHLQMDLG, and Megan Thee Stallion’s Fever, and more recently Silk Sonic’s ‘An Evening With Silk Sonic’—helping place these artists at the top of the Spotify charts. Shannon seeks to elevate creators within the culture and audiences they are speaking to in their work. Sparking meaningful collaborations across Spotify campaigns by commissioning multidisciplinary artists such as Joe Freshgoods, Bmike Odums, Ugly Primo, Mahogany Browne, COVL, and Sadé Clacken Joseph. The intentional and willful approach to music culture has significantly influenced and contributed to the perception of the Spotify brand—creating lasting connections between Spotify and cultural communities of color through campaigns such as Black History is Happening Now, Spotify’s House of Are & Be at Essence Fest, the RapCaviar Day 1 Club, and more recently the ‘Sunday Dinner’ film featuring Pusha T, Ari Lennox, Rico Nasty and Big G on Spotify’s new home for black expression: Frequency. Shannon, along with her creative partner, has garnered an array of creative accolades including, The Drum’s 2020 Future 50, D&AD, Clio awards and more.
