The Executive Creative Summit returns in-person to New York for the first time since 2019, and whoa, what a difference five years can make to our industry! A global pandemic, diversity going under the microscope, the birth of WFH culture, the physical downsizing of office space, the rise of AI — it's enough to burden anybody!

That's why the Executive Creative Summit aims to bring together decision-makers in our community for support and inspiration. Making beautiful and smart creative work is a challenge unto itself, but add to that the concerns of keeping clients happy, staff inspired, business growing, revenues in check, and the lights, well, on, and the life of a C-suite executive, agency founder or partner can be complicated and even isolating.

Join us at The One Club on Thursday, May 16, and Friday, May 17, for two intimate days of closed-door conversation between industry peers, including some of the most successful creative professionals in the business. Equal parts insightful presentations and genuine discussions and group sessions, attendees are encouraged to speak honestly about their challenges and successes, away from the camera and the social media glare.

Because of the nature of the Summit, prospective attendees must first apply before being invited to purchase tickets. Only C-suite creatives (CCOs, CMOs) agency partners, and founders will be permitted to attend. Not quite there yet? Keep your ears open for the next Creative Leaders Retreat, to be announced this fall for an early 2025 gathering.

Whether you've advanced up the ladder to the proverbial corner office or threw caution to the wind and started your own shop, it sometimes seems like the responsibilities can outweigh the rewards. The Summit is a unique chance to share and gain advice and encouragement from others who have been there, still doing that.

Keep your ears open for the next Creative Leaders Retreat, to be announced this fall for an early 2025 gathering.

HOW TO STAY IN BUSINESS FOR 30 YEARS WITHOUT LOSING THE PLOT
John Butler
Creative Chairman, BSSP
Gregory Stern
CEO, SFJAZZ; Co-Founder, BSSP

John and Greg will discuss how, since its inception in 1993, BSSP has successfully navigated its journey as an independent company. He and Greg will detail the company's resilience through several economic downturns, including three recessions—though some might argue two—the emergence of multiple bubbles, a global pandemic, the departure of founding partners, and an ever-changing industry, all without incurring substantial expenses on therapy.

11:00 am - 11:45 am

BUILDING A NEW NETWORK WHILE EVERYONE IS WATCHING
Wesley Ter Haar
Co-Founder, Media.Monks

The ups, downs and sideshow of building a billion dollar business while the (agency) world watches.

”YES” SHAPES YOU. BUT “NO” DEFINES YOU.
Bianca Guimaraes & Kevin Mulroy
ECDs, Mischief

Mischief @ No Fixed Address has turned down 96% of all new business opportunities in the past year. Yet, the agency is growing at an explosive rate, winning new clients without pitches, and launching an endless slew of celebrated campaign after campaign. Join Partners & ECDs Kevin Mulroy and Bianca Guimaraes as they pull back the curtains on Mischief's success, and show examples of the "no"s they said and the pitches they won without pitching.

WHY I DON'T WORK ON THE AGENCY SIDE
(AND WHAT YOU CAN DO ABOUT IT BECAUSE YOU DO)

Fernando Machado
Senior Brand Advisor, Operating Partner and Board Member

I don't know how you guys do it. Seriously. And I will explain why I feel that way.
And provide some tips in terms of how to better collaborate, inspire, and convince clients to do better creative work.

2:30 - 3:15 pm

YOU BASTARD, YOU NEVER TOLD ME
Jaime Robinson in conversation with PJ Pereira
Co-Founder, CCO, Joan Creative & PJ Pereira Founder & Creative Chairman, Pereira O'Dell

Having been Pereira O’Dell’s ECD for 3 years (and worked for PJ for 4 more before that), Jaime thought she knew everything about what it takes to be an agency founder. Holy crap, was she wrong. In this conversation, Jaime really gives PJ a lot of shit for hiding the harder parts of running your own company – and thanks him for taking so much on his shoulders. This is a frank look at what it takes to start and grow an agency.

3:20 - 4:05 pm

SHOW ME THE MONEY
Judy John & Mario Cordeiro
Judy John, Global CCO & Mario Cordeiro, CFO, Global Solutions + Finance Transformation, Edelman

To succeed as a creative leader today, it’s not enough to be wildly, creatively talented, you have to know the business of the business. But none of us got into the business to spend our time in the numbers and spreadsheets, that’s why the CFO should be your new favorite person and partner.

Judy and Mario will share insights on how they are transforming Edelman by getting under the hood of the business. When you understand the numbers, you understand the levers you have available to drive creativity.

4:10 - 5:30 pm

“DESSINE MOI UN MOUTON” (DRAW ME A SHEEP)
Philippe Meunier
Co-Founder & CCO, Sid Lee

Together, we will “Reimagine Advertising Agencies” amidst the disruptive landscape of today. This interactive session will draw inspiration from Antoine de Saint-Exupéry’s enduring fable, "The Little Prince,” putting at the center the capacity of the human mind for creative imagination, a trait often overshadowed in the routines of adulthood. This analogy mirrors our endeavor to tap into the creative potential within our industry, illustrating the importance of thinking outside conventional boundaries to redefine the purpose of advertising agencies.

5:30 - 6:30pm

Networking & Cocktails

Day 2

9:15 - 10:00am

Breakfast & Networking

10:00 - 10:30am

10:30 am - 11:15 am

MORE THAN MARKETING
Sofia Hernandez
Global Head of Business Marketing, TikTok

As our industry evolves, there is a greater expectation of everyone to do more with less. Production budgets are squeezed, creator fees are on the rise and everyone has their eye on ROI. One discipline stands out among the rest and that's Marketing.
What does the evolution of Marketing look like and how do we continue to do creative work that inspires people to action?

11:20 am - 12:05 pm

HEARTS, MINDS AND THE ART OF CHANGE
Leland Maschmeyer and Brian Collins
Co-Founders, Collins

Creative ambition is one thing. Getting your organization to deliver on it is another.

So often, transformation is confused for the structures, steps and systems needed to get there — it’s really about winning hearts and minds. It flourishes when storytelling, expectation management, and a shared sense of identity align.

Leland Maschmeyer and Brian Collins are co-founders of COLLINS, AdAge’s Agency of the Year and Business Transformation Agency of the Year five times. In this presentation, they explore how to engineer and drive change in an organization from two people who have done it with clients, agencies and now, themselves, too.

Each participant is requested to bring one photograph of themselves at 13 years old or under.

12:10 pm - 12:55 pm

"MAKE THE WORLD TO BELIEVE IN YOU AND TO PAY HEAVILY FOR THE PRIVILEGE."
Nils Leonard
Founder, Uncommon Creative Studio

Trying to start and sell a reference point business.

1:00 pm - 2:00 pm

LUNCH

2:00 pm - 2:40 pm

"A CHIEF CLIENT OFFICER, A CHIEF CREATIVE OFFICER, AND
A CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER, WALK INTO A BAR."
Danny Robinson
CEO Martin

Let's examine the idea that we would all be better off if every position, in every department, in every corner of our agencies was held by a "creative."

2:45 pm - 3:00 pm

Closing Remarks and Action Moving Forward
Kevin Swanepoel
