Alexa Jovanovic

The Braille Fashion Designer & Founder

Aille Design

Buffalo, United States

Alexa Jovanovic, known as The Braille Fashion Designer, works with the blind and visually impaired community to create fashion pieces with fully legible braille. Her braille clothing brand Aille Design (pronounced: eye) is on the leading edge of how inclusive practices and co-design processes are shaping the way that fashion is evolving. The creation of her braille fashion first began as a final research project while Alexa studied Fashion at Ryerson University (now Toronto Metropolitan University). Several years later, her research transformed into an internationally recognized and award nominated fashion brand focused on creating a new standard of inclusivity in fashion. Alexa works very closely with the community to help normalize the inclusion of individuals with disabilities in all areas of fashion, from clothing design and modeling to accessible shopping environments and digital spaces. Diversity includes disability and she believes it’s time our fashion industry does too.
