Born in Southern England, Julian Peploe migrated to the United States in 1989 to continue and complete his Bachelors in Fine Art. Upon graduation, Julian joined the art department at Sony Music where he, over the course of his first four years, rose through the ranks to become creative director for Epic Records. During his eight years at Sony he developed a wide array of working styles, one of the key requirements for creating unique and diverse visual solutions for music branding. He also won numerous awards, was featured in a number of design magazines, and was one of the winners of Young Guns 1. After nearly a decade with Sony Music, Julian embarked on a new journey, establishing his own design firm, Julian Peploe Studio, where he continued to expand his roster of music clientele outside of Sony. In addition to music branding, Julian began to work in a wider range of fields, including publishing, corporate identity and packaging design. In 2014 Julian co-created Stone and Sawyer, marking his transition into additional disciplines outside of art direction. Stone and Sawyer is a domestic lighting company with a focus on design, quality and hand manufacturing. In the last nine years, the company has expanded its range and now hand-produces fine lighting for clients worldwide. In keeping with Julian’s multi-disciplinary working style, he now additionally works within the fields of architecture, interiors and landscape design while continuing his art direction practice.
