After starting as an account trainee in Euro RSCG Lisboa, João soon moved to Fuel, a local Havas Group agency, where just one year and a half later, he was given the opportunity to change from the client service department into the creative side. In his first 3 years as a copywriter, he won a Portuguese Young Creatives Award, three-times in a row. Since then, he has worked in agencies such as BBDO Lisbon, Havas, independent studio O Escritório and VMLY&R, until he returned to Fuel, this time as a Creative Director for the Retail Department. After 2 years, he was promoted to Fuel’s Co-CEO and CCO. João has worked for brands such as Continente, Worten, Lidl, Benfica, Emirates, Super Bock, BMW, MINI, Samsung and Pizza Hut; won local and international awards, and, recently, he was invited to judge at Eurobest 2022. Also, for a couple of years, he worked as a screenwriter for the Portuguese Public TV Show “5 Para a Meia-Noite” and as guest speaker for schools and colleges.
