About the Event

It's that time of the year to glow-up your portfolio. From small tweaks to starting from scratch, get your portfolio in shape so you can apply to that internship you've been eyeing, that job opening you are considering, or, if you aren't there yet, come and learn where to start.

We have workshops, presentations, and one-on-one reviews. You will spend 15 minutes with local professionals - creative directors, strategists, media planners, PR, recruiters - you get the idea. Show them your work, get feedback, and ask for career advice. Bring a fully-charged laptop/tablet and your best attitude. If you come with an empty stomach, BREAKFAST WILL BE PROVIDED.

Dawn Astley

Head of Recruitment at GUT Miami

An industry veteran with an extensive background in integrated marketing, brand development and people operations, Dawn Astley has spent her career in roles on both the agency and client sides, including over a decade at CP+B where she served as its VP/Director of Quality of Life.
Dawn has a BS in Communications / Advertising from Florida State University and is a certified Senior Human Resources Professional. One of the great loves of her career was teaching the Get A Job class at Miami Ad School for two years.

Joselyn Bickford

Head of Brand Leadership at GUT Miami

Joselyn Bickford joined GUT in January 2022 after stints at W+K, 72&sunny, CP+B and BSSP. She is GUT Miami’s Head of Brand Leadership, responsible for fostering relationships and ideas across accounts and supporting new business efforts. She is a 20+ year creative account management veteran who has shepherded many of her clients from brand strategy to campaign launch and beyond with work that always keeps an eye toward strategic creativity, bravery, effectiveness and momentum. She has a BA in advertising from the University of Oregon J-School.

Felix Castro

VP Creative Services at WOW Marketing

With over 22 years of experience managing campaigns for national and international clients, including Burger King, American Airlines, Acura and Bacardi, Felix has led multidisciplinary creative teams to deliver award-winning, strategically developed creative concepts for integrated campaigns.
Felix started his career in beautiful Puerto Rico, joining the ranks of global network agencies such as Grey, Euro RSCG and DDB. After joining WOW MKTG in 2013 as Creative Director, he has been building and developing creative talent ever since, working with clients in the automotive, healthcare, food and beverage, and entertainment industries, amongst others.

Carlos Collazos

Ronaldo Jardim

Co-founder and Creative Partner at Flow Studio

Ronaldo leads creative for the offices in Salt Lake City, Miami, and Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Previously, he spearheaded innovation and digital endeavors at Campbell Ewald in Detroit and led digital creative direction at PMG Group, garnering accolades such as a silver Graphis, Effie finalist, and national Addy finalist for clients like Sunmaid. With a career spanning prestigious agencies like Droga5, TBWA Canada, Martin Agency, and Saatchi LA, Jardim's work for global brands like Chrysler, Toyota, and Samsung has been internationally recognized, including a Grand Prix design award from Brazil’s prestigious Wave Festival. In early 2020, one of his projects produced for Cheil Brazil was shortlisted for a Clio Award and five New York Festivals awards. Among many other awards he has received for his work are Gold ADDYs in Las Vegas and Phoenix, and a Gold Integrated Lion from the Cannes International Festival of Creativity.
Serving as a jury member for Awwwards, Webby Awards and FWA underscores his industry expertise and commitment to excellence helping to grow the creative community. A native of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, Jardim now resides in Miami Florida.

Taylor Kuzia

Art Director at Lemon Yellow

Taylor is much more than just a designer. Because for her design is not simply about design. It’s about looking, seeing, thinking and making. A truly multi-disciplinary creative, Taylor studied fine art at the University of Georgia and began her career working in art galleries. Overseeing the management and production of traveling exhibitions it wasn’t long until her talents brought her into the agency world. Taylor combines outstanding organizational skills with a rigorous eye for creative detail. An indispensable member of the Lemon Yellow team, she’s also a self-confessed fan of word and number puzzles. Which probably explains why she’s so good at figuring things out.

Carlos Lange

Head of Design at TEAM

With over 20 years of experience collaborating and bringing creative concepts to life, Carlos is a seasoned creative problem solver driving results on a global scale. Working with brands like Coca-Cola, Volkswagen, Burger King, Old Navy, Heinz, Bacardi, Molson Coors, and Microsoft, has allowed Carlos to bring a fresh perspective to complex creative challenges through impactful and compelling work.

Milton Lebron

Co-Founder, Executive Creative Director Might & Matter

For over 25 years, Milton has served as a driving creative force behind major brands like McDonald’s, PepsiCo, Four Seasons Resorts, Lacoste, Lexus, Google, NBCUniversal, Toyota, HBO, and Walmart, among others. In addition to developing creative and digital campaigns for integrated marketing communications efforts in the U.S. and Latin America, he has also crafted global digital campaigns for fashion and beauty icons Marc Jacobs and La Prairie. His high-level creative conceptualization, leadership, and strategic thinking skills have led to a string of award-winning, highly effective campaigns, garnering more than 350 national and international accolades. He is also featured as one of the top 25 influential and inspiring chief creative officers by Creativepool in London.

Scarlett Maestre

Senior Art Director at GUT Miami

Scarlett's journey into the world of art and design started at the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City, where she learned from professors in the industry that good design isn’t just about looks—it’s everything. Hungry to make her mark, Scarlett dived into every internship she could find, from small design shops to large agencies such as TBWA all to sharpen her skills and learn how to turn great ideas into visual feasts.
She’s all about the little things, believing that it’s the small details that make big ideas shine. She finds inspiration from the world of fashion photography, the edgy vibes of 90s advertising, the dramatic flair of 70s Italian films and interior design. Scarlett has worked with a variety of big brands, including OREO, UPS, and Stella Artois, allowing her to mold her creative muscle to fit each brand. She believes no matter how large the scope or name of the brand each project deserves all the attention it can get.

Nuno Mendes

Senior Art Director at Zubi

Nuno is a highly passionate creative with over 17 years of experience in the advertising industry. He has had the privilege of working with incredibly talented and diverse teams in ad agencies across Portugal, Brazil, and England before arriving in the US to join Zubi as a Senior Art Director.
His extensive experience working in different markets for brands of all sizes and sectors has broaden Nuno’s approach to creativity, making him more explorative and effective. He firmly believes that a powerful idea can move the world. And any product off the shelf.
For Nuno, a happy day is spent searching the next game-changing idea in the limitless, rule-free world of ideation that lies just beyond any piece of paper with the word “brief” on it.

Erika Morales

Principal & Creative Director at Lemon Yellow

Erika originally trained as a fine artist. She learned to craft. She learned to create. But above all she learned to think. Which is why she’s now a highly conceptual, strategically savvy designer. Obsessed with fluency and functionality, she balances form and function as well as she balances clients and their audiences. After 8 years as a designer in a top Fortune 100 healthcare organization, she co-founded Lemon Yellow in 2005. Recognized internationally, she has contributed to numerous art and design exhibitions and publications both in Miami and abroad. Inspired by the world of architecture and industrial design, she is a naturally creative problem solver whose elegant solutions put the “art” into “smart”.

Thomas Nitti

Senior Copywriter at DAVID Miami

Thomas Nitti is a Senior Copywriter from DAVID Miami, short on height, big on ideas. He has worked on some of the largest brands in the world, including Google, Coca-Cola, Netflix and Burger King. Previously, he worked at MullenLowe Boston, and has also taught Ideas First and Script Writing at Miami Ad School. What he lacks in moody headshots, he makes up for in innovative concepts.

Dan Onufrishyn

Freelance Creative Director | AIGA MIami President

Dan is a versatile Creative Director with 10+ years of experience. He has worked with: Accenture, ESPN, Excel Sports Management, ExxonMobil, J.P. Morgan, and Sundance, delivering innovative and impactful solutions that elevate their brand presence.

Albena Petrus

Professor at FIU (presenter)

Albena is a data-driven multicultural creative director. She has developed brand identities and advertising campaigns for corporations all over the world that is inspired by her curiosity about people and their interaction with others. She teaches undergraduate and graduate courses for Florida International University's School of Communication and is the founder of Portfolio Maven, a creative portfolio consultancy service. She currently serves as The One Club Miami's president.

Luis Puerta

Lead Creative (Lilly) at alma

Before starting his career in the U.S. at Young & Rubicam Latam, Luis worked in Colombia -his home country- for Saatchi & Saatchi and Y&R after finishing his studies in communication and Advertising at the Pontificia Universidad Javeriana. Besides alma; Young & Rubicam, Accentmarketing and Cheil give him the opportunity to build brands for important clients such as General Motors, AT&T, Sprint, Nextel, Samsung, US Navy, Dunkin’ Donuts and KFC among others, and work for industries like Pharmaceutical, Health, Communications and automotive. The same way he has been switching from U.S. Hispanic to Latin America Markets, he has worked in retail and branding at different times in his 30+ years of career, offering a global view to the specific areas. His work has been recognized in international advertising festivals such as Webby, One Show, New York Festival, FIAP and El Ojo de Iberoamérica, among others. At alma, he is the Lead Creative for Eli Lilly.

LUIS FELIPE RIOS

Senior Copywriter at The Community

Luis Felipe Rios is currently a copywriter at the community working with clients like Captain Morgan, Smirnoff, Mondelez and others. Prior to the community, Luis worked at JWT and VMLY&R. His work has been recognized by international festivals including Cannes Lions, Clio Awards, ANDY Awards, One Show, and ADC, among others. Luis studied communications science at the Universidad Peruana de Ciencias Aplicadas (Peru) and digital creativity and strategy at Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (Spain). He is currently based in Miami and outside of work, he enjoys playing basketball, running, and going out with his Nikon camera to photograph the streets.

Camila Rocha

Copywriter at Zubi

Camila Rocha is a copywriter in advertising industry, specializing in the Hispanic market. With experience at Republica Havas and Zubi, she has cultivated an understanding of what it means to craft compelling messages for diverse audiences. She thrives on teamwork, finding strength in diverse perspectives, and believes in the power of listening and mentorship for personal and professional growth. She’s driven to create work that’s engaging, emotionally resonant, and downright engaging.

Christian Rodarte

Founder/CEO at Commonwell

Christian, a third-generation entrepreneur, is the Founder and CEO of Commonwell, a dynamic communications consultancy based in Los Angeles and Miami. The company focuses on Social Responsibility, Marketing Communications, and Content. He has been at the helm of some exciting and transformative projects from the world's most iconic brands, from returning the Rams to LA, to the deployment of next-generation technology across California to amplifying the Sustainable Development Goals in South Florida. Christian leverages his talents and relationships to maximize clients’ efforts.

Julia Sanbe

Junior Copywriter at GUT Miami

Julia is a Junior Copywriter at GUT Miami. She is a recent Spring 2023 Graduate of the University of Miami, where she developed a true passion for copywriting. During her tenure as a student, she served on the University’s Adgroup Executive Board and received over 10 student awards, including 2 D&AD pencils. Post-graduation, Julia jumped straight into agency life, starting her first internship at DAVID Miami just four days after receiving her diploma. Now a full-time employee at GUT, Julia has had the honor of working with a variety of engaging and diverse clients, ranging from Vital Farms to Stella Artois.
As a recent graduate, Julia is eager to offer perspective and advice to other young professionals looking to land their first internship or job. When she’s not writing copy, you can find her doing her best art director impression while working as a freelance illustrator.

Juliana Tonussi

Director Of Operations at MAD (presenter)

Juliana Tonussi has nearly two decades of experience in the advertising industry, specializing in Project Management, Account Management and Operations. Throughout her career, she has worked in top Brazilian agencies, serving prominent brands such as Visa, Itaú, C&A, Natura, Santander, and Claro Brasil. Since 2021, Juliana has been focused on the North American market, working at Mad, an independent agency based in Miami, where she recently took over the HR area.

Shadab Wajih

Associate Creative Director at Golin Chicago

Shadab has been working for clients like McDonald’s, Nintendo, Walmart, Grubhub etc. He takes his interests in Gaming and Soccer so seriously it finds its way in his campaign ideas during the days and occasionally his decks for Miami Ad School where he works as a teacher. He keeps his humor dark and his work colorful. And when it comes to watching anime, he prefers subs over dubs.

Caroline Webster

Senior Copywriter at GUT Miami

Caroline Webster got her foot in the advertising door through paid social, where she honed her copywriting chops and developed an obsessive attention to detail. After a few years, her "big idea" muscles yearned to be stretched, so she enrolled in night classes at Adhouse NYC where she supplemented her portfolio with more conceptual work. In 2022, she put her sweaters in storage and started at GUT Miami, where she's spent the last year and a half working on brand platforms, TV campaigns, PR stunts and more.

Sandra Weisinger

Creative Director at El Autobus

Sandra has an awarded career as Creative Director in International advertising agencies such as DDB, JWT and Lowe. Similarly, she has been a Producer for Discovery Channel, and is the writer and co- creator of Pin Pan Pum, an Emmy Awarded content show for children in the Hispanic Market.
She graduated in Social Communication and Advertising in the prestigious Universidad Catolica Andres Bello in Caracas, Venezuela. She has 15 years of experience both in Advertising as well as in television.
