About the Work

Founder and CEO Sophie Bai, one of the world’s preeminent bio-cosmetic scientists and inventor of the DiamondCore® Shield, approached us to name and build a suncare brand that would challenge the status quo in a category that felt either clinically serious, or childish and ineffective. Together we built a brand that brings luxurious fashion into the laboratory.

Enter Pavise—an advanced biotech company on a mission to break conventions of the skincare industry and take sun protection for every skin type seriously through meticulously researched, breakthrough technology. Named by our team for the 14th-century full-body shield, Pavise offers the ultimate invisible defense against UV-induced skin aging through proprietary technologies built around molecular nanodiamonds.

For the range of sun protection products—creams for various skin types, a gentle amino powerwash, and tinted lip defense—we created a vivid packaging system inspired by the electrifying and intensely-saturated visuals produced under a microscope. The designs feature a holographic 3D recreation of Pavise’s patented DiamondCore® Shield, created by a scientific animation studio, balanced by a refined typographic system that instills trust and embodies a brand rooted in extensive scientific research.

As Sophie says, “Color means life. [Scientists] always use vivid color to biomark molecules, receptors, and proteins to track how they change. Scientific discoveries and breakthroughs are made because we see the bright colors move in a way that is expected—or unexpected. Life forms glow in the cold, dark world, representing hope.”

Since its 2023 launch, Pavise has been celebrated in numerous publications, including Forbes, Elle, WWD, Marie Claire, and W. In the first week of launch, they generated six figure sales, and took over New York City with a multi-billboard campaign. Praised as the “Birkin bag of sunscreen” by Highsnobiety, the brand has taken the beauty industry by storm, fusing top-tier science with streamlined, luxury design.
